In addition to her interests in performing and teaching, as a musicologist, Missy is passionate about music writing. She formally began writing about music during her time as a graduate student at The Catholic University of America where she received a Master's degree in Musicology, and presented her writing at university events such as Chamber Choir concerts and The Catholic University Research Day:
